SEATTLE
Then...
Seattle was founded by members of the Denny party, most of whom arrived at Alki Beach on November 13, 1851, and then, in April 1852, relocated to the eastern shore of Elliott Bay. With the filing of the first plats on May 23, 1853, the "Town of Seattle" became official.
The future city was born when the schooner Exact dropped anchor off Alki Beach in present-day West Seattle. It carried Arthur A. Denny (1822-1899) and a few of the pioneers (10 adults and 12 children) that he and his father had led from the Midwest over the Oregon Trail to Portland.
The Denny Party was greeted by David Denny (1832-1903), Arthur's younger brother, who had scouted the area with John Low (1820-1888) and Lee Terry. They had arrived at the mouth of the Duwamish River on September 25, 1851 aboard a sailboat skippered by Capt. Robert C. Fry and were met by Chief Seattle (d. 1866).
The Great Seattle Fire was a fire that destroyed the entire central business district of Seattle, Washington on June 6, 1889. Because of the fire, the buildings in downtown Seattle now sit some 20 feet above the original street level.

Now...

The Seattle Seahawks retired the number 12 jersey on December 15, 1984, in honor of their fans...the Seahawks have virtually ceased from referring to their fans as the "12th Man", and instead are using the term "12's" or the 12 Fan!

Seattle is a vibrant city on the Puget Sound in the Pacific Northwest. The city was given the nickname by tourism officials, who were promoting Seattle as "The Emerald City" in the mid-1980's. This is mostly due to the lush, green forest of Washington (particularly coniferous tree species are dominant). Yes, it rains a lot but not major heavy rains but mainly sprinkle of waters from heaven above to ensure it retain its heavenly emerald sparkling beauty when the sun shines during the summer!
Seattle is magnificent, surrounded by waters (Pacific Ocean, lakes, rives and waterfalls), mountains and evergreen forest, and contains more than 6,000 acres of beautiful parks within the city limits. The city is rich in culture and easy-going lifestyles, and it's no accident that Seattle is the "Coffee Capital" of the United States, with a coffee shop on almost every corner.
Seattle is also the home of these 10 major companies in Washington such as Amazon, Microsoft, Boeing, Nordstrom, University of Washington, Costco Wholesale, T-Mobile, Providence Health & Services, Barrett Business Services and and Startbucks!
The Seattleite people are proud and major sports fanatic! Whether you are not a fans of their football team, the Seahawks you must experience being inside their stadium during their season for its a life awakening experience! Fans of the Seattle Seahawks helped the American Football team reclaim the hotly contested world record for the loudest crowd roar at a sports stadium! It's also the home of the Mariners and the Seattle Sounders.
The "grunge look" fashion era started in Seattle due to its grunge music genre popularized by local band, Nirvana that emerged in mid-1980's and had reached worldwide by the early 1990's. The "King of Grunge", Kurt Cobain, Nirvana's lead singer was from Seattle and to this day, many fans visits his old home where he died to pay their respect and tribute to their idol. Jimmy Hendrix and Bruce Lee is another graveyard site that are being flocked by fans each year from around the world.
Seattle's summer is much longer for the sun does not go down till 10 PM and the heat is tolerable. Honestly, the only people who complains about the heat are the locals and during the rainy days, the only people using umbrellas are tourist! Definitely, Seattle should be in your bucket list and once you step your foot in the Emerald City you will be captivated by its natural true beauty!
